Removal Procedure

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Remove sensor (6) .

- Loosen clamps (3) and slide the hose toward the turbocharger.
- Remove four bolts (5) and remove elbow (4) from the air inlet manifold (1) .
- Remove bolts (2) that fasten air inlet manifold (1) to the engine.
- Remove the air inlet manifold (1) .
Note: The air inlet manifold and the exhaust manifold share the same gasket. In order to remove the gasket, the exhaust manifold must also be removed. Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly, "Exhaust Manifold-Remove and Install" in order to remove the gasket and replace the gasket.
