  1. Clean upper connecting rod bearing (4) and lubricate the bearing face with clean engine oil.

  2. Clean lower connecting rod cap (3) and the lower connecting rod bearing. Lubricate the bearing face with clean engine oil.

Note: Align the tabs on the connecting rod bearings with the tab grooves in the connecting rod.

  3. Pull the connecting rod into position against the crankshaft. The connecting rod may need to be rotated in order to prevent contact with the piston cooling jet.

  4. Install connecting rod cap (3) and the lower connecting rod bearing together in connecting rod (2).

  5. Install bolts (1) and the nuts in the connecting rod (2). Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 155 N·m (114 lb ft). Tighten the nuts to a torque of 125 N·m (92 lb ft).

  6. Repeat Steps 1 through 5 for the remaining connecting rod bearings.

End By:

  1. Install the engine oil relief valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Relief Valve - Remove and Install".

  2. Install the engine oil pan. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pan - Remove and Install".
