Crankshaft Pulley - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


  1. Loosen the bolts for the alternator and slide the alternator toward the engine in order to remove the V-belt from the engine.

  1. Remove bolt (1) and washer (2) from the crankshaft.

  1. Remove crankshaft pulley (3) from the engine.

Installation Procedure


NOTICE

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


  1. Thoroughly clean the following components: keyway, key, bore of the crankshaft pulley, end of the crankshaft and washer.

  1. Put crankshaft pulley (3) in position on the engine.

  1. Inject a 3 mm (0.12 inch) bead of 8T-9022 Silicone Gasket into the crevice between the crankshaft and the crankshaft pulley. Please refer to illustration 3.

  1. Lubricate bolt (1) with clean engine oil.

  1. Install washer (2) and bolt (1) in the crankshaft. Tighten bolt (1) to a torque of 185 N·m (136 lb ft).

  1. Put the V-belt in position on the engine.

  1. Slide the alternator away from the engine in order to tension the alternator V-belt. Tighten the bolts for the alternator. For more information on the tension for the alternator V-belt, refer to the Testing and Adjusting Module, "Belt Tension Chart".
