D9R Track-Type Tractor Caterpillar

Stopping the Engine

Usage:

D9R 8BL

NOTICE

Stopping the engine immediately after it has been working under load can result in overheating and accelerated wear of the engine components.

Refer to the following stopping procedure, to allow the engine to cool, and to prevent excessive temperatures in the turbocharger center housing, (if equipped) which could cause oil coking problems.

  1. While the machine is stopped, run the engine for five minutes at LOW IDLE.

  1. Turn the start switch key to OFF. Remove the key.

Long Term Idle

Idle the machine at an engine RPM that is slightly higher than the LOW IDLE. Idling at the higher engine RPM ensures good lubrication.
