To prevent injury, make sure that no maintenance work is being performed on the machine or near the machine. Keep the machine under control at all times in order to prevent injury.

Reduce the engine speed when you maneuver the machine in tight quarters or when you break over a incline.

Select the gear range that is necessary before you start the downgrade. Do not change gears when you are going downhill.

Do not allow the engine to overspeed downhill. Use the pedal for the service brake to reduce engine overspeed downhill.

When the load is pushing the machine, move the transmission control lever in FIRST speed before starting downhill.

When you drive down a grade, use the same gear range that is used for driving up a grade.

1. Adjust the operator's seat.

2. Fasten the seat belt.

3. Raise all attachments enough to clear any unexpected obstacle.

4. Push down on the brake pedal. This will prevent the machine from moving.

5. Move the lever for the parking brake upward to the UNLOCK position. This action also unlocks the lever for the transmission control.

6. Move the lever for the transmission control to the desired direction and speed. Release the pedal for the service brake and allow the machine to move.

7. Move the throttle control to the desired engine speed.

8. Drive the machine forward for best visibility and for control.
