Start By:

  1. Remove the brake actuator. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Brake Actuator - Remove". The information is in this manual.

  1. Loosen locknut (1) that secures yoke assembly (2) to rod (3). Remove yoke assembly (2) and locknut (1) from rod (3). Remove boot (4) from cylinder assembly (5).

    ------ WARNING! ------

    Sudden release of spring force can cause injury.

    To prevent the possibility of injury, follow the procedure to relieve the spring pressure.

    ----------------------

    Note: Note the position of locknut (6) and nut (7) on rod (3) for assembly purposes.

  1. Remove locknut (6) that secures nut (7) on rod (3). Slowly release and carefully release the spring pressure on nut (7). Remove nut (7) from rod (3) .

  1. Loosen two nuts (8) that secure clamp (9) and plate (10) to cylinder assembly (5). Remove clamp (9), plate (10) and diaphragm (11) from cylinder assembly (5). Remove rod (3), retainer (12) and O-ring seal (13) from cylinder assembly (5) .

    ------ WARNING! ------

    Sudden release of spring force can cause injury.

    To prevent the possibility of injury, follow the procedure to relieve the spring pressure.

  1. Install Tooling (A) to cylinder assembly (5). Tooling (A) is used to contain the springs when bolts (14) are removed. Remove eight bolts (14) and the washers that secure support (15) to cylinder assembly (5). Slowly release the spring tension and carefully release the spring tension that is contained by the tooling. Remove the tooling from the cylinder assembly. Remove support (15) and two springs (16) from cylinder assembly (5) .

  1. Remove piston (17) from cylinder assembly (5). Remove two seals (18) and wiper seal (19) from piston (17). Remove four plugs (20) from cylinder assembly (5). Remove two wiper seals (21) from cylinder assembly (5) .
