  1. Use Tooling (B) to install bearings (10) in the oil pump body. The position of the bearing joint must be within 30 ± 15° of the centerline. The bearings must be installed so that the bearings are flush with the oil pump housing.

  2. Apply clean engine oil to the inside diameter of the bearings in the oil pump body. Apply clean engine oil to shaft assemblies (9).

  3. Install shaft assemblies (9) in the oil pump housing.

  4. Use Tooling (B) to install bearings (8) in cover (4), if the cover is equipped with bearings. The position of the bearing joint must be within 30 ± 15° of the centerline. The bearings must be installed so that the bearings are flush with the cover. Apply clean engine oil to the inside diameter of each bearing.

    ------ WARNING! ------

    Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.

    To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.


  5. Install cover (4) on the oil pump housing.

  6. Install plunger (5) and spring (6) in the oil pump housing. Install retainer (7).

  7. Install key (3).

  8. Install gear (2) on the oil pump shaft. Install bolt (1) and tighten the bolt to a torque of 55 ± 10 N·m (41 ± 7 lb ft).

  9. The engine oil pump must turn freely after assembly.

End By:

  1. Install the engine oil pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pump - Install".
