NOTICE |
---|
Use new straps and bolts when servicing the drive shaft. Tighten the bolts to the specified torque by using an X pattern in order to ensure that all components fit correctly and that no gaps are present. Tighten the bolts again by using an X pattern to ensure that the correct torque has been reached. Failure to use new straps and bolts and follow the specified torque sequence may result in machine damage. |
(1) 4V-7081 Strap and 138-3816 Bolt . Torque for the bolt ... 150 ± 15 N·m (110 ± 11 lb ft)
The fittings (2) should be lubricated with a lithium based grease. A molybdenum based grease should not be used.
(3) Torque for the bolts ... 58 ± 6 N·m (43 ± 4 lb ft)
The spline (4) should be lubricated when the machine is fully articulated.
Note: Molybdenum grease is preferred for lubricating the spline.

(5) Torque for the bolt ... 120 ± 20 N·m (90 ± 15 lb ft)
(6) Torque for the four bolts ... 240 ± 40 N·m (180 ± 30 lb ft)
Apply 185-3989 Anti-seize Compound between the drive shaft and the bore (7) for the support bearing.
Apply 154-9731 Thread Lock Compound to the setscrew (8) and the threads of the jam nut. Turn the setscrew until contact is made with the bottom of the keyway. Turn the setscrew counterclockwise for half of a turn. Hold the setscrew in the current position and tighten the jam nut to a torque of 24 ± 4 N·m (18 ± 3 lb ft).
