Flywheel Clutch - Remove

Usage:

Removal Procedure (Direct Drive)

Start By:

  1. Remove the universal joint. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Universal Joint - Remove and Install".

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.



NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


Note: Check the condition of all seals and of all components. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

  1. Remove two bolts (1) .

  1. Remove tube (2) .

  1. Remove two bolts (3) and hose (4) .

  1. Remove two bolts (5) and hose (6) .

  1. Remove two bolts (7) and hose (8) .

  1. Loosen fitting and remove tube (9) .

  1. Remove all the nuts except for two nuts (10) that hold the flywheel housing to the engine.

  1. Attach to tool (A) and a hoist to the flywheel clutch housing.

  1. Remove the last two nuts and remove the flywheel clutch.
