3406E and 3456 Generator Set Engines Caterpillar

The Electronic Control Module (ECM) detects the following conditions:

• The signal voltage from the engine coolant temperature sensor is less than 0.2 VDC for more than one second.

• The ECM has been powered for at least three seconds.

• Diagnostic codes 262-03 and 262-04 are not active.

System Response:

The ECM will place the engine in Cold Mode and the ECM will flag all coolant temperature as invalid data. The parameters for the coolant temperature will be disabled. The ECM will log the diagnostic code. The code may be viewed on the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET).
