3406E and 3456 Generator Set Engines Caterpillar

The Electronic Control Module (ECM) detects one of the following conditions:

• The engine oil pressure sensor has never been calibrated.

• Engine oil pressure is less than 35 kPa (5 psi) or the engine oil pressure is greater than 130 kPa (19 psi).

• Engine oil pressure fluctuates more than 25 kPa (3.6 psi) during a calibration attempt.

• Engine oil pressure differs more than 27 kPa (4 psi) from atmospheric pressure during a calibration attempt.

• Active diagnostic codes are present for either the engine oil pressure sensor or the atmospheric pressure sensor during a calibration attempt.

System Response:

The diagnostic code is not logged. The Diagnostic code is only active. The diagnostic code may be viewed on a display module or on the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET). During a manual calibration, the pressure offset value is set to 0 kPa (0 psi). During an automatic calibration, the pressure offset value is set to the previous calibration value.
