Perform this maintenance with the engine stopped. |
If the crankcase breather is not maintained on a regular basis, the crankcase breather will become plugged. A plugged crankcase breather will cause excessive crankcase pressure that may cause crankshaft seal leakage.
- Loosen the hose clamp and remove the hose from the breather cover.
- Loosen the four bolts for the breather cover and remove the breather cover.
- Remove the breather element and wash the breather element in solvent that is clean and nonflammable. Allow the breather element to dry.
- Install a breather element that is clean and dry. Install the breather cover and install the bolts. Refer to the Specifications, SENR3130, "Torque Specifications Module" for the proper torques.
- Install the hose. Install hose clamp. Refer to the Specifications, SENR3130, "Torque Specifications Module" for the proper torques.
