Engine Crankcase Breather - Clean

NOTICE

Perform this maintenance with the engine stopped.


If the crankcase breather is not maintained on a regular basis, the crankcase breather will become plugged. A plugged crankcase breather will cause excessive crankcase pressure that may cause crankshaft seal leakage.

  1. Loosen the hose clamp and remove the hose from the breather cover.

  1. Loosen the four bolts for the breather cover and remove the breather cover.

  1. Remove the breather element and wash the breather element in solvent that is clean and nonflammable. Allow the breather element to dry.

  1. Install a breather element that is clean and dry. Install the breather cover and install the bolts. Refer to the Specifications, SENR3130, "Torque Specifications Module" for the proper torques.

  1. Install the hose. Install hose clamp. Refer to the Specifications, SENR3130, "Torque Specifications Module" for the proper torques.
