NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


  1. Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the cylinder head, the air inlet heater, and the base assembly.

  2. Install Tooling (B) in the cylinder head at Location (Z).

  3. Apply Tooling (C) to both sides of air inlet heater (16) and base assembly (14).

  4. Allow Tooling (C) to dry for three to five minutes.

  5. Apply Tooling (D) to both sides of air inlet heater (16) and install air inlet heater (16) on Tooling (B).

    Note: The air inlet heater and the base assembly must be installed within ten minutes of applying Tooling (D).

  6. Position base assembly (14) on Tooling (B).

  7. Install bolts (13) and bolts (15) finger tight.

  8. Remove Tooling (B) and install remaining bolts (13). Tighten bolts (13) and bolts (15).

  9. Connect inlet air temperature sensor (12).

  10. Connect harness assembly (11) at the air inlet heater.

  11. Install Tooling (A) in the base assembly at Location (Y).

  12. Attach a suitable lifting device to core assembly (4) at Location (X). The weight of core assembly (4) is approximately 36 kg (80 lb). Install core assembly (4) on the base assembly and Tooling (A).

  13. Position cover (2) onto Tooling (A).

  14. Install bolts (3).

  15. Remove Tooling (A). Install remaining bolts (3).

  16. Install tube assembly (8) and hose (9).

  17. Install tube assembly (6). Install bolts (7).

  18. Install support (10).

  19. Install adapter (5).

  20. Connect harness assembly (1) to the air inlet heater switch.
