Coolant Level Sensor - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.



NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".

  2. Disconnect harness assembly (1).

  3. Remove coolant level sensor (2) from the heat exchanger.

  1. Apply Tooling (A) to the threads of the coolant level sensor.

    Note: Do not apply Tooling (A) to a new coolant level sensor.

  2. Install coolant level sensor (2) and tighten to a torque of 22 ± 3 N·m (16 ± 2 lb ft).

  3. Connect harness assembly (1).

  4. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".
