Marine Transmission Oil Cooler - Remove and Install

Usage:

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the heat exchanger. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Heat Exchanger - Remove".


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.



NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


  1. Disconnect the marine transmission oil cooler lines from the marine transmission oil cooler.

  2. Disconnect hose (1).

  3. Remove bolts (3).

  4. Remove transmission oil cooler (2).

  5. Remove bolts (4). Remove cover (5).

  6. Remove bolts (8). Remove cover (9) and flange (10) from housing (7). Remove O-ring seal (6).

  7. Remove core assembly (11). Remove O-ring seals (6).

  8. Remove plug (13) and remove zinc plug (12).

  1. Install O-ring seals (6) on core assembly (11).

  2. Install core assembly (11) in housing (7). Install cover (5) and install bolts (4).

  3. Install flange (10), O-ring seal (6), and cover (9) on housing (7). Install bolts (8).

  4. Install zinc plug (12). Install plug (13).

  5. Position marine transmission oil cooler (2) and install bolts (3).

  6. Connect hose (1).

  7. Apply Tooling (A) on the threads of the marine transmission oil lines. Install the marine transmission oil lines.

  8. Fill the marine transmission to the correct level. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Marine Transmission Oil Level - Check".

End By:

  1. Install the heat exchanger. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Heat Exchanger - Install".
