A change has been made to Service Magazine, SEPD0992-00, 18, May 2009, Installation of the Correct Dust Seal in the Swing Gear and Bearing. The Service Magazine media for the following content has been updated. Disregard the previous article. The information below replaces that article.

The following changes are adaptable to the products within the listed serial numbers, and are effective with all products after the listed serial numbers.

A new dust seal may be installed when service is performed on the swing gear and bearing. Several dust seals are available for replacement. Compare the cross section of the former seal with the cross section of a new seal.

Note: Do not substitute seals. The cross section of the new seal must be identical to the cross section of the seal that is removed.

Illustrations 2,4, and 5 show the cross sections of the dust seals.

The procedure for the replacement of the dust seal depends on the series of the machine and the model. Use the procedure that is appropriate for the seal in your machine.
