Action Required
1. At first bushing turn check for visible cracks.
a. If crack is visible repair per Special Instruction SEHS 9998-01 and Video TEVN4113 (European Format TEVP4113) which both explain how to repair the cracks and reinforce with plates.
b. If no crack is seen, air arc 3" of weld on top of pivot shaft to tube weld. Pencil grind to smooth the weld surface and use dye penetrant to check for cracks. If dye penetrant shows a crack repair it using Special Instruction SEHS9998-01 and Video TEVN4113 (European Format TEVP4113) to repair and add plates.
c. If no crack is seen on the dye pentrant clean up the weld and weld it up per our Video tape.
2. If the crack goes underneath the skirt cut a window the full width of the skirt and 6" high. Then air arc the weld until the crack is gone(using dye penetrant). Then weld it up.This is a 3 hour operation per window.
3. If the crack does not stop but continues to the belly plate, the skirts and the belly plate have to be removed. Before you air arc underneath, weld up the top section to hold it together. This operation adds 16 hours to the repair work.
