Product Support Program For Installing Pivot Shaft Seals On Certain D9N And D9R Tractors Caterpillar

NOTE: This Program can only be administered after a failure occurs. The decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS5276" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. Use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

Termination Date

Problem

Debris and small rocks may build up and lodge in the cavity between th seal and and the end of the track roller frame hub on certain D9N and D9R Tractors. This build up may cause high stresses in the seal and result in a fatigue failure.

4 - 1387478 Stud-Bolt

2 - 1388221 Plate

2 - 1388361 Guard As-Seal

Action Required

A 1388223 Guard Group can be installed that will prevent debris from entering the seal area and reduce the abrasion to the seal. Refer to the following Illustration for parts locations.
