Description of Change: On 613 Scrapers operated in some job conditions, very high stresses have caused weld cracks in the gooseneck assembly of the draft frame. Generally, these cracks are in the welds that hold the top and bottom plates to the side plates. On machines where these cracks are found, fabricated reinforcement plates can be installed. A Special Instruction, Form SMHS7519, is now available with complete information to fabricate and install the necessary reinforcement plates. If desired, the plates can be installed on machines operated in high stress conditions to prevent the possible development of cracks.
