Description of Change: New fan motors are used in cab pressurizers for the above models. The new motors have a heavy duty design, with ball bearings and larger brushes. Also, the design of the new motors permits brush replacement when the brushes become worn. Formerly, high motor temperatures in some conditions of operation caused rapid brush wear and possible seizure of the sleeve type bearings.
Adaptable As: Direct replacement, except on some earlier D10 Tractors and 980C Loaders where slots (long narrow openings) must be cut to give clearance for the ribs on the housing of the new motor. See the topic "Modification". When replacement of a former motor becomes necessary on machines that use two motors, install two new motors as a set. Do not install one new motor with one former motor. For brush replacement in any of the new motors, use 9G398 Brush Kit. The kit has two brushes and two brush caps.
MODIFICATION: For earlier 980C Loaders, slots must be cut in the 2V9984 and 2V9977 Plate Assemblies. For earlier D10 Tractors, slots must be cut in the 2G416 Bracket. Use the new motor to find the location, and cut slots in alignment with the ribs on the motor housing. Do not grind, or in any way remove the ribs from the motor housing.
