PROBLEM
The steering column needs to be reworked on certain 980G, 980G Series II, and 980H Wheel Loaders that are equipped with the Underground Mining Arrangement (UMA). The operator may tilt the steering column to far forward, which can cause the piston shaft inside the steering column to bend and possibly break. If the piston shaft bends or breaks, the steering column will be able to move to far forward, which can cause the steering wheel to lock itself causing a loss of steering control. |
