Transducer for filtered engine oil pressure |
The transducer for filtered engine oil pressure is a 4 to 20 mA pressure sensor. If the engine oil pressure is 0, the transducer's output is 4 mA. If the engine oil pressure rose to 1000 kPa (145 psi), the transducer's output would be 20 mA.
The transducer is used by the control system to monitor the engine oil pressure. The transducer's output is used to provide a visual display of the engine oil pressure.
The transducer's output is also used to provide redundant shutdowns for protection from low engine oil pressure. In addition to the shutdowns, the transducer's range enables the control system to use alarms for low engine oil pressure. The control system is programmed to provide alarms and shutdowns for low engine oil pressure at different engine speeds. Monitoring of the transducer's output enables the control system to activate the alarms and shutdowns, if necessary.
