Turbocharger - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Release the system pressure.

  1. Open the hood.

  2. Remove heat shield (1) and loosen clamp (2).

  3. Loosen clamp (4) and disconnect hose (3).

  4. Remove bolt (5), disconnect the tube assembly, and remove the gasket (not shown).

  5. Loosen clamps (6) and remove tube (7).

  6. Remove bolts (8) and plate assembly (9).

  7. Remove bolts (10), disconnect hose assembly (12), and remove gasket (11) (not shown).

  8. Loosen clamp (13) and disconnect hose (14).

    Typical Example

  9. Remove nuts (15), gasket (16), and turbocharger (17).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install turbocharger (17) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Apply Tooling (A) to nuts (15).

    2. Tighten nuts (15) to a torque of 44 N·m (32 lb ft).

    3. Tighten bolts (10) to a torque of 22 N·m (195 lb in).

    4. Tighten bolt (5) to a torque of 20 N·m (177 lb in).
