The network card can be configured in a variety of ways. The configuration of the card includes configuring the following settings: address, Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) mode or American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII) mode, baud rate, parity and stop bits. The following settings are the default settings: address 1, "RTU" mode, 9600 baud, no parity and 2 stop bits. These settings will be setup by the user and the settings must match the settings of the master for proper communications. The user will use the software package in order to configure the settings. The software package allows changes to be made. The software package can then write the changes to the card. The following procedure should be used to configure the network card.
- Make sure that jumper J4 (2) is jumped, and make sure that jumper J6 (1) is not jumped on the card. See illustration 2.
- Make sure that the network card is installed on the MX200 controller.
- Power down the controller and connect one end of the RS232/485 converter to the PC that has the configuration software. Connect the other end of the cable to the RS485 connector on the network card. Make sure that the polarity of the connections are correct.
- Power up the controller and the network card.
- Run the configuration software on the PC.
- When the software is loaded, check the settings in the serial port section. Make changes if changes are necessary. The following settings should be used for the serial port: 9600 baud, no parity, 8 data bits and 1 stop bit.
- Click on the "CONFIG" button in order to configure the specified serial port.
- Click on the "READ" button in order to read the current configuration.
- Click on the "MODIFY" button in order to enable changing of the parameters.
- Make necessary changes in the "Device Information Section".
- Click on the "WRITE" button in order to write the new configuration to the device.
- Click on the "READ" button in order to verify that the changes were made.
- Cycle the power to the ATS and the MX200. Cycling the power will enable the settings on the network card.
