Apply 1U-8846 Liquid Gasket to four areas on the sealing surface of the oil pan. The areas are marked location (Y). The areas are at the corners of the oil pan in the following locations:

• connecting joint of the front housing and the front of the cylinder block

• connecting joint of the flywheel housing and the rear of the cylinder block

Use the following procedure to tighten the bolts for the oil pan.

1. Tighten four bolts (X) .

2. Start with bolt (Z) and tighten all remaining bolts in a counterclockwise sequence.

   Tighten the bolts to the following torque. ... 31 ± 3 N·m (23 ± 2 lb ft)

3. Again, start with bolt (Z) and tighten all remaining bolts in a counterclockwise sequence.

   Tighten the bolts to the following torque. ... 31 ± 3 N·m (23 ± 2 lb ft)
