Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Disconnect the electrical connection from the air inlet heater.

  1. Remove fuel line (1) from air inlet heater (2) .

  1. Remove air inlet heater (2) from the inlet manifold.

  1. Inspect the condition of seal (3) on the fuel line. If the seal is worn or damaged, use a new part for replacement.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install air inlet heater (2) into the inlet manifold. Tighten the air inlet heater to a torque of 31 N·m (23 lb ft).

  1. Install seal (3) onto the fuel line.

  1. Install fuel line (1) onto air inlet heater (2) .

  1. Remove the air from the fuel system. Refer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Fuel System - Prime" for additional information on removing the air from the fuel system.

  1. Connect the electrical connection to the air inlet heater.
