A New Seal Is Used In The Alternator Mounting Group {1405}

Description of Change: A new seal is used in the alternator mounting group on these engines. The new seal includes a dust lip. The former seal did not have a dust lip. The dust lip helps prevent foreign material from damaging the inner lip of the seal. This will help prevent oil leaks past the new seal.
Adaptable To: The new 189-5178 Seal is a direct replacement for the 9X-4612 Lip Seal in the 7E-4836 Alternator Mounting Gp that is used on the above engines.
Use the 1P-0520 Driver Gp to install the new 189-5178 Seal. The lips of the new 189-5178 Seal must be oriented as the illustration shows.
