Engine Oil Relief Valve - Remove and Install

Usage:

3054 CHN

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the engine oil pan. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pan - Remove and Install".


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

    The 3056 Marine engine is shown.

  1. Remove two bolts (4) that hold the oil suction screen and tube (1) .

  1. Remove the nut and bolt (6) from the bracket. Remove the oil suction screen and the tube (1) .

  1. Remove two bolts (2) and two bolts (5) that hold oil supply tube (3). Remove oil supply tube (3) .

  1. Remove two socket head bolts (9) that hold the tube (8) for the engine oil relief valve.

  1. Remove bolts (7) that hold the engine oil relief valve. Remove the engine oil relief valve.

Installation Procedure


NOTICE

  1. Install the engine oil relief valve. Install bolts (7) that hold the engine oil relief valve.

  1. Install two socket head bolts (9) that hold the tube (8) for the engine oil relief valve.

    The 3056 Marine engine is shown.

  1. Install oil supply tube (3). Install two bolts (2) and two bolts (5) that hold oil supply tube (3) .

  1. Install the oil suction screen and tube (1). Install two bolts (4) that hold the oil suction screen and tube (1) .

  1. Install the nut and bolt (6) on the bracket.

End By: Install the engine oil pan. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pan - Remove and Install".
