    1. Check all of the bolts for the cutting edge group for the correct tightness. Refer to illustration 1.

    1. If necessary, tighten the bolts to the proper torque value. Refer to table 1 for the correct torque values.

    Table 1
Static inspection torque for the cutting edge gp bolts
Blades     Sales Model     Bolt Size     Torque Value
    Cross Blade     VHS-60/4, VHS-70/4     M20 x 2.5
    450 N·m (330 lb ft)
    Cutting Blades     VHS-60/4, VHS-70/4     M20 x 2.5
    450 N·m (330 lb ft)
    Guide Blades     VHS-60/4, VHS-70/4     M20 x 2.5
    450 N·m (330 lb ft)
    Piercing Blades     VHS-60/4     M20 x 2.5
    450 N·m (330 lb ft)
    VHS-70/4 M24 x 2.5
    800 N·m (590 lb ft)

The bolts should not move before a torque that is specified in table 1 is reached. If the bolt moves, then the bolt has been overstressed. The bolt must then be replaced.

ReferenceRefer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cutters - Inspect/Replace" for information on replacing the bolts for the cutting edge group.
