Be Sure The 163-6108 Timing Control (G3412) And 163-6164 Timing Control (G3408) Is Correctly Installed On Engines Equipped With The CAT Digital Ignition System {1901}

Usage:

G3408 6NB
Engines:
G3408 (S/N: 6NB)
G3408 (S/N: 6RJ)
G3412 (S/N: 7DB1-UP)

When you install the 163-6108 Timing Control or 163-6164 Timing Control, please use the recommendations that follow:

  • Do not mount the 163-6108 Timing Control or 163-6164 Timing Control on the engine or the engine driven equipment. The wiring harness allows the timing control to be mounted at a distance that is up to 7.6 m (25 ft) away from the front of the engine. This should allow mounting the timing control near the control panel for the package.

  • To ground the timing control, attach the ring terminal on the ground wire of the ignition harness to one of the mounting bolts for the timing control. The timing control mounting hole that is in the lower right corner is the closest location for the wiring harness. Scrape off the paint around the timing control mounting hole in order to ensure a good ground connection.

  • The power and sensing lead wiring harness can be routed along the side of the engine in the same path as the ignition harness. However, do not strap the two harnesses together.
