Main Control Valve - Disassemble

Usage:

Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the main control valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Main Control Valve - Remove".

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


Note: Note the location and orientation of the components for assembly purposes.

  1. Remove nuts (2) and cover (1) .

  1. Remove tube assembly (3) .

  1. Remove O-ring seal (4) from cover (1) .

    Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.

    Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.

  1. Remove O-ring seal (17) and (18) from valve assembly (5) .

  1. Remove bolts (7), housing (6), bolt (8), retainer (9), spring (10), retainer (11), and spool (12) .

  1. Remove bolts (16), housing (15), and O-ring seal (14) .

  1. Remove plug (13) and the O-ring seal.

  1. Remove valve assembly (19) .

  1. Remove bolts (20), housing (21), retainer (22), spring (23), housing (24), spacer (25), wiper seal (26), O-ring seal (27), adapter (28), and spool (29) .

  1. Remove plug (30) and the O-ring seal.

  1. Remove O-ring seals (31) and (32) .

  1. Remove bolts (36) and plate (35). wiper seal (34), and O-ring seal (33) .

  1. Remove valve assembly (37) .

  1. Remove O-ring seals (49) and (50) .

  1. Remove plug (48) and the O-ring seal.

  1. Remove bolts (38), housing (39), bolt (40), retainer (41), spring (42), retainer (43), plate (44), wiper seal (45), O-ring seal (46), and spool (47) .

  1. Remove bolts (54), plate (53), wiper seal (52), and O-ring seal (51) .

  1. Remove valve assembly (59) .

  1. Remove check valve (56) and the O-ring seal.

  1. Repeat Steps 6 and 7 for valve (55) .

  1. Remove plug (57), plugs (58), and the O-ring seals.

  1. Remove valve assembly (61) .

  1. Remove O-ring seals (63) and (64) .

  1. Remove plug (62) and the O-ring seal.

  1. Remove check valve (60), check valve (65), and the O-ring seals.

  1. Repeat Steps 17 and 18 for valve (66) .

  1. Remove valve assembly (68) .

  1. Remove O-ring seals (70) and (71) .

  1. Remove plug (69) and the O-ring seal.

  1. Remove check valve (67), check valve (72), and the O-ring seals.

  1. Repeat Steps 6 and 7 for valve (73) .

  1. Remove valve assembly (74) .

  1. Remove O-ring seals (75), (76), and (77) .

  1. Remove O-ring seals (78) and (80) .

  1. Remove plug (79) and the O-ring seal.

  1. Repeat Steps 17 and 18 for valve (81) .

  1. Remove valve assembly (84) .

  1. Remove plugs (85) and the O-ring seals.

  1. Remove check valve (83), check valve (86), and the O-ring seals.

  1. Repeat Steps 6 and 7 for valve (82) .

  1. Remove O-ring seals (88), (90), (91), and (92) .

  1. Remove plug (89) and the O-ring seal.

  1. Repeat Steps 17 and 18 for valve (93) .

  1. Remove valve assembly (101) .

  1. Remove plug (104), O-ring seal (105), spring (106), and spool (107) .

  1. Remove plug (108) and the O-ring seal.

  1. Remove check valve (103), check valve (109), and the O-ring seals.

  1. Repeat Steps 6 and 7 for valve (102) .
