Radiator Core - Clean

Personal injury can result from air pressure.

Personal injury can result without following proper procedure. When using pressure air, wear a protective face shield and protective clothing.

Maximum air pressure at the nozzle must be less than 205 kPa (30 psi) for cleaning purposes.

  1. Raise the engine hood and open the rear access door on the left side of the machine.

  1. Locate the radiator (1) .

  1. Check all of the core fins for debris.

  1. Remove dust and debris from all of the core fins.

    Compressed air is preferred, but high pressure water or steam can be used to remove dust and general debris from a core.

    See Special Publication, SEBD0518, "Know Your Cooling System" for more detailed information about cleaning core fins.

  1. Close the engine hood and close the rear access door.

  1. Remove 2 wing nuts (2) in order to remove screens (4) .

  1. Remove screens (3) and (4) .

  1. Remove dust and debris from the screens.

    Compressed air is preferred, but high pressure water or steam can be used to remove dust and general debris from the screens.

  1. Install screens (3) and (4) .

  1. Install 2 wing nuts (2) .
