Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |
- Drain the coolant from the jacket water system into a suitable container for storage or for disposal.

Illustration 1 g00634874 - Disconnect the electrical connection (not shown) from the jacket water heater.
- Remove plug (1) in order to drain the coolant from the jacket water heater. After the coolant has drained, install the plug.

Illustration 2 g00634914 - Disconnect two hose assemblies (2) from jacket water heater (3).
- Remove four bolts and washers (4) that attach the plates and the jacket water heater to the bracket.
- Remove the jacket water heater.

- Place jacket water heater (3) into position in the plates on the bracket. Install four bolts and washers (4) that attach the plates and the jacket water heater to the bracket.
- Connect two hose assemblies (2) to jacket water heater (3).
- Connect the electrical connection (not shown) to jacket water heater (3).
- Fill the jacket water cooling system. For the proper coolant to use, see the Operation and Maintenance Manual.
