Engine and Main Hydraulic Pump - Install

  1. Install rubber mounts (105) on the front engine supports.

  1. Install rubber mounts (106) on the rear engine supports.

  1. Place a protective cover between fan (99) and the radiator core. Position fan (99) in the fan shroud.

  1. Fasten a suitable lifting device and Tooling (A) to the lifting brackets on the engine.

  1. Fasten Tooling (B) to the hoist and the lifting bracket on the engine.

    Note: Be careful to not damage the radiator core or damage the cooling fan while you install the engine and main hydraulic pump.

    Note: The engine and main hydraulic pump must be kept level in order to prevent possible interference between the components. Adjust Tooling (A) and Tooling (B) in order to keep the engine and main hydraulic pump level.

  1. Carefully install engine and main hydraulic pump (100) on the machine. The approximate weight of the engine and main hydraulic pump is 520 kg (1150 lb).

  1. Install bolts (101) and nut assemblies (103) on the front engine mounts.

  1. Install bolts (102) and nut assemblies (104) on the rear engine mounts.

  1. Tighten the engine mount bolts to the specified torque.

  1. Install the nuts that secure fan (99) to the engine.

  1. Connect the bottom radiator hose. Tighten hose clamp (98) .

  1. Connect the fuel lines to the fuel injection pump. Tighten hose clamps (96) .

  1. Connect the fuel line to the fuel priming pump. Tighten hose clamp (97) .

  1. Connect the heater hoses. Tighten hose clamps (94) .

  1. Install the washer and bolt (95) in order to install the clip on the heater hoses.

  1. Connect the electrical wires to the starter. Install nut (91). Install the cover over nut (91) .

  1. Install the battery cable in the clamp. Install the clamp and bolt (90) .

  1. Connect the wires to the starter. Install screws (92) .

  1. Install the washers and bolts (93) in the harness clips.

  1. Install the washers and bolts (89) in the harness clips.

  1. Reposition throttle cable (88) and the governor control on the engine.

  1. Install the washers and bolts (87) in the clips on throttle cable (88) .

  1. Install the washers and bolts (86) in the bracket for the throttle cable.

  1. Install the washers and nuts (84) in order to connect the bracket for governor control cable.

  1. Install the washers and bolts (85) in order to connect the governor control bracket.

  1. Install nut (83) in order to connect the glow plug wire.

  1. Connect oil lines (81) to the engine oil cooler.

  1. Install the washer and bolt (82) in order to connect the clip for the oil lines.

  1. Install the washer and bolt (80) in order to connect the ground wire to the engine mount.

  1. Connect the oil line. Tighten hose clamp (79) .

  1. Connect electrical connectors (78) to the oil temperature sensor.

  1. Install the washer and bolt (77) in the harness clip.

  1. Install nut (72) in order to disconnect the electrical wire to the alternator.

  1. Connect electrical connector (73) to the alternator.

  1. Connect electrical connector (74) to the alternator.

  1. Install bolt (75) in the ground wire on the alternator.

  1. Connect electrical connectors (71) to the coolant temperature switch. Connect electrical connector (69) to the coolant temperature sender.

  1. Install the washer and bolt (68) in the harness clip. Install the washer and bolt (70) in the harness clip.

  1. Install top radiator hose (67). Tighten hose clamps (66) .

  1. Install air hose (65) to the turbocharger. Tighten hose clamps (64) .

  1. Install lower fan guard (62). Install the washers and bolts (63) .

  1. Install upper fan guard (61). Install the washers and bolts (60) .

  1. Perform Steps 44.a through 44.i if the machine is equipped with an air conditioner.

    1. Position refrigerant compressor (58) in the mounting bracket.

    1. Install the washers, bolt (59), and the nut. Install the washers and bolts (57) .

    1. Install the clip and bolt (56) for the air conditioner lines.

    1. Install bracket (54). Install the washers and bolts (53) .

    1. Install the washer and bolt (55) in the clip for the air conditioner lines.

    1. Connect electrical connector (51) to the refrigerant compressor.

    1. Install wire tie-wraps (52) .

    1. Install V-belt (50) on the compressor pulley.

    1. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "V belts - Adjust" for the correct procedure to tighten the belt.

  1. Install cover (46). Install the washers and bolts (47) .

  1. Tighten bolts (43) on the cover under the boom.

  1. Install new O-ring seal (42) in the suction tube.

  1. Position suction tube (40) on the main pump. Install bolts (39) in suction tube (40) .

  1. Tighten hose clamp (41) on the suction line.

  1. Connect hoses (38) to the suction line.

  1. Fill the hydraulic oil tank.

    Reference: Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities and Refill Capacities".


    NOTICE

    When the main hydraulic pump has been serviced or the hydraulic oil has been replaced, the air in the hydraulic system must be purged. Do not start the engine until the main hydraulic pump has been filled with oil.

    Operating the hydraulic pump without proper lubrication will damage the pump and other hydraulic components.


  1. Fill the main hydraulic pump with hydraulic oil.

  1. Install cover (2). Install the washers and bolts (1) .

  1. Fill the cooling system.

    Reference: Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities and Refill Capacities".

  1. Check the engine oil level.

    Reference: Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil Level - Check".

  1. Install high efficiency filters in place of the pilot filter, case drain filter, and the return filter.

    Note: High efficiency filters should not be run for more than 250 hours before you change back to the standard filters.

  1. Start the machine. Run the machine and check for leaks.

  1. Purge the air from the main hydraulic pump.

    Reference: Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Main Hydraulic Pump Air Pressure - Purge".

  1. Obtain a hydraulic oil sample.

    Reference: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Sampling Interval and Location for Sampling" for the correct location.

  1. If the S·O·S sample exceeds ISO 18/15, flush the hydraulic system.

    Reference: Refer to Contamination Control Guidelines, SEBF8449, "Hydraulic System Flushing Procedure for 313B Hydraulic Excavators" for further information.

End By: Install the counterweight. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Counterweight - Remove and Install".
