Removal Procedure
Start By:
- Drain the fuel tank. Refer to Operation and Maintenance, SEBU7296, "Fuel Tank Water and Sediment - Drain".

Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire. Clean up fuel spills immediately. |

NOTICE |
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |

Note: Put identification marks on all lines for installation purposes. Plug all lines. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.

- Unlock the lock (1) .
- Open the fuel tank access cover.

- Remove two bolts (2) and washers.
- Remove fuel tank access cover (3) .

- Remove bolt (4) and the washer.
- Remove battery cover (5) .

- Remove two bolts (6) and washers.

- Remove bolt (7) and the washer.
- Remove right side support assembly (8) .

- Disconnect electrical connector (9) .
- Loosen clamps (10) and remove two fuel hoses.
Note: Install plugs on the hose connections of the fuel tank. This will prevent contamination from entering the system.

- Remove two bolts (11) and the washers.

This is a view of the bottom of the fuel tank. |
- Remove two bolts (12) and the washers from the bottom of the fuel tank.

- Remove fuel tank (13) from the machine with a suitable lifting strap. Weight of the fuel tank is 28 kg (62 lb).
