Cab Heater - Remove and Install

Usage:

302.5 4AZ

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Drain coolant from the radiator. Refer to Operation and Maintenance, SEBU7203, "Cooling System Coolant (DEAC) - Change".

------ WARNING! ------

At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure.

Steam can cause personal injury.

Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.

Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure.

Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.

NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


Note: Put identification marks on all hoses for installation purposes. Plug all hoses. This will help to prevent fluid loss and this will help to keep contaminants from entering the system.

  1. Disconnect electrical connector (1) .

  1. Remove three bolts (2) and washers.

  1. Gently lift the heater assembly in order to expose the two hoses. Loosen two clamps (3) and remove two hoses (4) aside.

  1. Remove cab heater assembly (5).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install cab heater assembly (5) with two hoses (4) and tighten clamps (3) .

  1. Install washers and three bolts (2) to the cab heater assembly.

  1. Connect electrical connector (1) .

End By: Refill coolant to the radiator. Refer to Operation and MaintenanceSEBU7203, "Cooling System Coolant (DLC) - Change".
