Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the bottom guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bottom Guard - Remove and Install".

Personal injury or death can occur from a counterweight falling during removal or installation. Do not allow personnel under or around the counterweight during removal or installation. Make sure that the lifting device is in good condition and is capable of handling the weight of the counterweight.

1. Open the hood.

2. Remove four bolts (1) and washers.

3. Remove left rear corner protector (2) .

4. Repeat Steps two and three for the right rear corner protector.

5. Remove two bolts (3), washers, and ground wire (4) .

6. Move bracket (5) aside.

7. Remove two bolts (6), washers, and hood support latch (7) from the counterweight.

8. Remove two bolts (8) and washers from the bottom of the counterweight.

9. Remove clips (9) and hoses (10) aside.

Note: The engine is removed for photographic purposes.

10. Attach a suitable lifting strap and Tooling (A) to the counterweight, as shown above. Remove four bolts (11) and washers from the counterweight.

11. Remove counterweight (12) from the machine with a suitable lifting strap. Weight of the counterweight is 117 kg (258 lb).

Installation Procedure

1. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting strap to the counterweight, as shown above. Install counterweight (12) with washers and four bolts (11) to the machine. Tighten bolts to a torque of 240 ± 40 N·m (177 ± 30 lb ft). Weight of the counterweight is 117 kg (258 lb).

2. Install hoses (10) and clips (9) to the counterweight.

3. Install washers and two bolts (8). Tighten the bolts.

4. Install hood support latch (7) to the counterweight with washers and two bolts (6). Tighten the bolts.

5. Install bracket (5) with ground wire (4), washers, and two bolts (3) to the counterweight.

6. Install left rear corner protector (2) with washers and four bolts (1). Tighten the bolts.

7. Repeat Step 6 for the right rear corner protector.

8. Close the hood.
