Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the swing motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Swing Motor - Remove" in this manual.

1. Thoroughly clean the area around the swing drive prior to removal.

2. Put identification marks on the swing drive in order to mark the drive's location for assembly purposes.

3. Remove 13 bolts (1) and the washers that hold the swing drive to the main frame.

4. Fasten Tool (A) and a hoist to swing drive (3) , as shown.

5. Remove two corks (2) from the threaded holes in the swing drive housing. Install a 20 mm x 60 mm forcing screw in each threaded hole in the swing drive housing. Slowly tighten one forcing screw for a few turns. Tighten the other forcing screw for a few turns. Alternate between the forcing screws in this manner in order to separate the swing drive from the main frame.

6. Remove swing drive (3) from the machine. The weight of the swing drive is approximately 115 kg (250 lb).

Installation Procedure

1. Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the swing drive housing and the main frame.

2. Apply 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the locating pin in the swing drive housing. Apply 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound in the pin bore in the main frame.

3. Apply 1U-8846 Liquid Gasket on the mating surfaces of the main frame and the swing drive.

Note: During installation, the locating pin for the swing drive can come out of the swing drive housing.

4. Fasten Tool (A) and a hoist to swing drive (3) . The weight of the swing drive is approximately 115 kg (250 lb). Put the swing drive in the drive's original position in the main frame. If the locating pin comes out of the swing drive housing, the locating pin can be reinstalled with a hammer after the swing drive is in place.

5. Apply 9S-3263 Thread Lock Compound on the threads of thirteen bolts (1) . Install the 13 bolts (3) and the washers that hold the swing drive in place. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 530 ± 70 N·m (395 ± 50 lb ft) .

6. Install two corks (2) in the threaded holes in the swing drive housing.
