NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".

  2. Remove clamps (1).

  3. Remove bolts (2) and bolts (3).

  4. Remove the bolts that hold harness assembly (6) to the engine oil pan.

  5. Remove bolts (5) and bolt (7) from auxiliary water pump (4).

  6. Remove bolts (8) and cover (9).

  7. Remove bolts (10) and adapter (11).

  8. Remove the bearing from adapter (11), if necessary.

  9. Remove O-ring seal (12) from adapter (11).

  10. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to auxiliary water pump (4). The weight of auxiliary water pump (4) is approximately 39 kg (86 lb).

  11. Pull auxiliary water pump (4) and the drive gear out of the front housing. Remove auxiliary water pump (4).
