Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the fuel injection lines, if necessary. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Injection Lines - Remove and Install".
2. Remove the air inlet manifold, if necessary. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Inlet Manifold - Remove".

Note: The fuel injection lines and the air inlet manifold only need to be removed if the glow plugs cannot be removed with the fuel injection lines and the air inlet manifold in position.

1. Remove breather tube (4) from the engine.

2. Remove nut (1) from the top of glow plug (2) .

3. Remove wires (3) from the top of glow plug (2) .

4. Remove glow plug (2) from the cylinder head.

5. Repeat Steps 2 through 4 for the remaining glow plugs.

Installation Procedure

1. Install glow plug (2) in the cylinder head. Tighten the glow plug to a torque of 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

2. Install wires (3) to the top of glow plug (2). Make sure that the wires do not contact any other components.

3. Install nut (1) and tighten the nut to a torque of 1.2 N·m (11 lb in).

4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 for the remaining glow plugs.

5. Install breather tube (4) on the engine.

End By:

1. Install the air inlet manifold, if necessary. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, " Inlet Manifold - Install".
2. Install the fuel injection lines, if necessary. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Injection Lines - Remove and Install".
