(1) Apply 9S-3263 Thread Lock on the threads of 12 bolts.

(2) Apply 9S-3263 Thread Lock on the threads of 20 bolts.

Torque for 20 bolts ... 900 ± 100 N·m (660 ± 75 lb ft)

(3) Apply 1U-8846 Gasket Maker to the surfaces of gear (3).

(4) After you install the seven pins, make stake marks near the opening of each pin hole. An example is shown in View A.

(5) Apply 9S-3263 Thread Lock on the threads of ten bolts.

Torque for ten bolts ... 900 ± 100 N·m (660 ± 75 lb ft)

(6) At assembly, O-rings of the floating seals and all surfaces in contact with the O-rings must be clean and dry. Apply a thin coat of oil on the contacting surfaces of the metal seals before installation.

(7) Use the plates to achieve the correct clearance "D". Clearance "D" equals 1.0 mm (0.04 inch) to 2.0 mm (0.08 inch).

Grease may be used in the counterbore to retain the spacer at assembly.

(8) Torque for two plugs ... 80 ± 10 N·m (59 ± 7 lb ft)

(9) Apply 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound to the surfaces in contact with the pins.

Use the following procedure to adjust the preload of bearing (12) :

  1. Place a load "P" of 4000 kg (8820 lb) on bearing (12) .

  1. Rotate the housing (13) in order to seat the bearing.

  1. Reduce load (P) to 1000 ± 100 kg (2200 ± 220 lb).

  1. Measure dimension (B) .

  1. Measure dimension (C) of gear (10) .

  1. Use a maximum of two shims (11) to achieve the correct clearance.

After assembly, apply 98 kPa (14 psi) of air pressure through the fill plug opening and sustain the air pressure for at least 30 seconds. There should not be any air leak for at least 30 seconds.
