(1) Torque for three studs in cylinder block ... 25 ± 4 N·m (18 ± 3 lb ft)
Put 9S-3263 Thread Lock Compound on threads of short stud in front housing.
(2) Oil Seal
Put glycerin or clean engine oil on the lip of the seal. Assemble with the lip toward the bearings.
(3) Seal
Put a light amount of clean engine oil in the bore for the seal.
(4) Ring and water seal
- Put clean water on the seal and put clean water on the ring.
- In order to install the seal and the ring, use the 7N-7843 Water Pump Seal Installer and use hand pressure. The seal and the ring should be installed as one unit in the housing bore. The shiny face of the ceramic ring should be facing toward the carbon seal assembly (5) .
(5) Seal Assembly
- Remove the spring from the seal assembly.
- Put clean water inside the seal assembly.
- Use the 7N-7843 Water Pump Seal Installer and use hand pressure to install the seal assembly. The seal assembly should be installed on the shaft. Install the seal until light contact is made with the shiny face of the ceramic seal.
- Install the spring.
(6) Torque for the bolt that holds the impeller ... 39 ± 3 N·m (28 ± 2 lb ft)
(7) Clearance between the impeller and the housing ... 0.56 to 1.50 mm (.022 to .059 inch)

(1) Oil Seal

(3) Ring and water seal
- Put clean water on the seal and on the ring.

(4) Seal Assembly

- Put clean water inside the seal assembly.
- Use the 7N-7843 Water Pump Seal Installer and use hand pressure to install the seal assembly. The seal assembly should be installed on the shaft. Install the seal until light contact is made with the shiny face of the ceramic seal.
- Install the spring.
(5) The torque for the bolt is the following value. ... 39 ± 3 N·m (28 ± 2 lb ft)
(6) Clearance between the impeller and the housing ... 0.56 to 1.50 mm (0.022 to .059 inch)

(1) Seal.
Lubricate the seal with the lubricant that is being sealed.
(2) Nut
Tighten the nut to the following torque. ... 60 ± 7 N·m (44 ± 5 lb ft)
(3) Lubricate the shaft with engine oil prior to assembly into the bearing.
(4) The bearing should be recessed in the housing. The bearing should be flush against the housing to the following amount. ... 1.00 mm (0.03 inch)
