Crankshaft - Remove - 3054 and 3054B Engines
Removal Procedure
Start By:
- Remove the fuel injection pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Injection Pump - Remove".
- Remove the engine oil pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pump - Remove".
- Remove the front housing. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Housing (Front) - Remove".
- Remove the flywheel housing. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Flywheel Housing - Remove and Install".
- Remove the housing for the crankshaft rear seal. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft Rear Seal - Remove".

- Remove two socket head bolts (1) that hold bridge (2) in position.

- Remove bridge (2) from the cylinder block.
- Remove ten main bearing cap bolts (3) from the main bearing caps.

Note: Inspect the main bearing caps and the connecting rod caps for the proper identification marks. The identification marks should give the location and the direction of the bearings in the engine.
- Remove five main bearing caps (4) from the cylinder block.
- Remove the lower main bearings and the lower thrust washers. Keep the lower main bearings with the respective main bearing caps.
- Remove eight nuts (5) from the connecting rod caps.

Note: The connecting rod caps can be held on the connecting rod with two bolts and two nuts. The connecting rod caps can also be held on the connecting rod with two bolts that are threaded into the connecting rod.
- Remove four connecting rod caps (6) from the connecting rods.
- Remove the bearings from connecting rod caps (6). Keep the connecting rod bearings with the respective connecting rod cap.
- Push the piston assemblies into the cylinder bores.

Do not allow the connecting rods to strike the piston cooling jets. Damage or misalignment may occur. |
- Attach lifting straps and a suitable lifting device to crankshaft (7) .

- Lift crankshaft (7) out of the cylinder block. The weight of the crankshaft is 29 kg (65 lb). Do not scratch any of the finished surfaces on the crankshaft.
- Remove upper main bearings (8) and upper thrust washers (9) from the cylinder block.
