Cleaning Procedure of the Standard Pre-Cleaner Assembly on Certain 836K Landfill Compactors {1055}

Introduction

Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you have read the information and you understand the information. This Special Instruction contains the cleaning procedure of the standard pre-cleaner assembly with landfill screen and dust ejection on the machines listed above.

When removing a major component or attachment, ensure that it is properly blocked or secured before removing mounting hardware. An assembly that is disconnected without proper blocking may shift or fall, resulting in serious injury or death of personnel or machine damage.


------ WARNING! ------

Before servicing/performing maintenance on the machine, electrical power must be physically disconnected; battery plugs must be disconnected from the batteries, or the trailing cable must be unplugged, and warning tags and padlocks shall be applied by a certified electrician. Certified electricians shall perform or direct any electrical work, including any energized testing, repair work in controllers, motors, or other approved compartments, and shall insure that all compartments are properly closed and inspected prior to re-energization. All applicable lock out and tag out procedures must be followed.


Machine Preparation

  1. Move the machine to a smooth, level surface that will support the weight of the machine. Move the machine away from other operating machines and away from personnel.

  2. Lower the implements to ground level.

  3. Turn the engine start switch to OFF position.

  4. Engage the parking brake.

  1. Loosen three clamps marked by arrows shown in Illustration 1.

  2. Slide ejector hose (C) off the fitting on the molded hose.

  3. Lift pre-cleaner assembly (A) off the exhaust outlet as shown in Illustration 1.

    Note: Place precleaner assembly (A) on a stable surface.

  4. Remove clamp (B) from the top of pre-cleaner assembly (A).

  5. Turn pre-cleaner assembly (A) over as shown in Illustration 2.

  6. Remove exhaust stack clamp (D) and clamp (E) that holds the pre-screen.

  7. Lift screen (F) off pre-cleaner assembly (A) and set screen (F) aside.

  8. Remove six screws (G) that hold the remaining components of pre-cleaner assembly together.

  9. Lift pipe and lower assembly (H) from upper assembly (J).

  10. Turn pipe and lower assembly (H) over.

    Clean pipe and lower assembly (H) with compressed air or water, as needed.

  11. Remove top plate (K) from upper assembly (J) as shown in Illustration 4 and Illustration 5.

    Clean top plate (K) with compressed air or water as needed.

  12. Re-assemble pre-cleaner assembly in reverse order.

    After assembly, position gasket (L) properly.

    Apply blue Loctite to each of the six long screws (G).

    Note: During screen (F) installation, ensure that ejector hose (C) is carefully guided through the opening as shown in Illustration 6.

  13. Install pre-cleaner assembly on the machine. Reconnect three clamps as shown in Illustration 1.

    Note: For more information on the installation procedure of the pre-cleaner assembly, refer to Special Instruction , M0097939 , "Installation Procedure of Pre-cleaner With Dust Ejection On Certain 836K Landfill Compactors".
