A New Procedure to Replace the Steering Pin on Certain AP355F Asphalt Pavers Is Now Used {4300, 4304, 4309, 4338, 4343}

Description Of Change: A new steering pin with improved durability is now used on certain AP355F Asphalt Pavers. The new pin requires the installation of a new steering column hub and a new retaining ring.

Adaptable To: The following changes are adaptable to the products within the listed serial numbers and are effective with all products after the listed serial numbers.

Reference: Special Instruction , M0094170 , "Procedure to Replace the Steering Pin on Certain AP355FAsphalt Pavers".

A procedure to replace the steering pin is now available for the machines listed above. The procedure includes replacement of the old 8T-0277 Spring Pin with a new 5S-6458 Dowel and replacement of the steering column hub with a new 535-8870 Hub. A new 1L-8497 Snap Ring will also be installed to aid in retention of the new pin.

Refer to Special Instruction , M0094170 , "Procedure to Replace the Steering Pin on Certain AP355FAsphalt Pavers".

The special instruction is available through the normal literature distribution system. The publication can also be found on the Caterpillar Service Information System (SIS).
