Manual Lowering (Powered Stairway) - Test - If Equipped

Usage:

797F LAJ
The manual lowering control is on the handrail above the platform for the powered stairway.

When the manual lowering control is tested, the control valve linkage will need to be reset before the control switches can be used to move the powered stairway.

------ WARNING! ------

Crush Hazard! Stay back a safe distance from the powered stairway when it is being raised or lowered. Failure to stay back may result in injury or death.



NOTICE

Make sure that the area is free of obstacles before raising or lowering the powered stairway.

Forward or reverse machine travel with the powered stairway lowered could result in contact with the ground or an obstacle resulting in damage to the powered stairway.


Start By:

a. Prepare the machine for maintenance. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Prepare the Machine for Maintenance".

  1. Move the powered stairway control switch to the lower position to ensure that the powered stairway is in the fully down position.

  1. Move the powered stairway control switch to the raise position for a count of only 1 second.

    Note: The powered stairway should be less than parallel to the ground when testing the manual lower function.

  1. Verify that the area around the powered stairway is clear of people and obstacles.

    Note: When the manual lowering control knob is used to move the powered stairway, the powered stairway will move uncontrolled from the raised position to the fully lowered position quickly. The movement of the powered stairway cannot be stopped once the manual lowering control knob has been depressed.

  1. Depress the manual lowering control knob until the powered stairway is in the fully down position.

  1. Remove the bolts from the tread plates, and store the bolts for reuse.

  2. Remove the tread plates, and store the plates for reuse.

  1. Remove the spring pin to allow the control valve linkage to reset.

  2. Reinstall the spring pin.

  1. Install the tread plates.

  2. Install the bolts for the tread plates, and tighten the bolts to the proper torque.
