New Product Link software is now available on certain Cat® Product Link devices (PL631 and PL641) when using R-terminal connection. The new software has the following improvement:
- Improved the accuracy of reported Service Meter Hours (SMH) when connected to R-terminal signal.
Note: If an asset has a PL631 or PL641 connected to R-terminal or similar "engine running" signal to accrue hours, then the 2016A or newer software and corresponding R-terminal configuration file (.cfg) will need to be installed.
The newer software, with the R-terminal configuration file will default to looking for R-Terminal much earlier in the Product Link startup process, improving the reported SMH accuracy in VisionLink and PL web. With 2016 software and corresponding configuration file, the PL6 radios can now achieve 1% accuracy for continuous engine run times of 13 minutes or more.
The new software part numbers are listed in Table 1.

The new software is available through the Caterpillar Service Information System (SIS) or through Over the Air flashing. Refer to SIS web to make sure that the software part number is still the latest part number. A newer part number may be available. SIS web only displays the latest available software file.
Note: The new software is installed via Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET).
