Servicing and changing tires and rims can be dangerous and should be done only by trained personnel using proper tools and procedures.


Note: This procedure is being performed on the rear tires and rims. This procedure will be used to change all the tires and rims.

  1. Use Tooling (C) to chock the tires that are not being changed to stabilize the machine during the removal of the tires.

  2. Position Tooling (A) under the axle as shown. Raise the machine until the tires and rims off the ground. Refer to Tool Operating Manual , NEHS1303, "Lift Group (Stand - 25 Ton)" for more information on Tooling (A).

  3. Remove all but two nuts (1) from rim (2).

  4. Position a suitable lifting device under tire and rim (3). Attach Tooling (B) to secure tire and rim (3) to the lifting device.

  5. Remove two nuts (1) from the rim. Remove tire and rim (3) from the machine. The weight of tire and rim (3) is approximately 658 kg (1450 lb).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install tire and rim (3) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Tighten nuts (1) to a torque of 475 ± 60 N·m (350 ± 44 lb ft).
