Note: Check the O-ring seals, the gaskets, and the seals for wear or for damage. Replace the components, if necessary.

1. Install 14 springs (9) in parking brake housing (2) .

2. Lubricate O-ring seal (8) with Tooling (B). Install O-ring seal (8) on piston (3) .

3. Install piston (3) in position over the springs.

4. Lubricate O-ring seal (7) with Tooling (B). Install O-ring seal (7) in position on the parking brake housing.

5. Lubricate seal ring (5) and wear ring (if equipped) (6) with Tooling (B). Install seal ring (5) and wear ring (if equipped) (6) in piston retainer (1) .

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury. To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.

6. Install retainer (1) over piston (3). Install Tooling (A). Tighten the bolts and the nuts evenly in order to compress the springs and seat retainer (1) .

7. When retainer (1) is seated on parking brake housing (2) Install two socket head bolts (4). Tighten socket head bolts to a torque of 100 ± 20 N·m (75 ± 15 lb ft).

8. Remove Tooling (A) .

End By:

a. Install the parking brake. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Parking Brake - Install".
