Parking Brake - Remove
Removal Procedure

Start By:
a. Remove the fixed axle. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fixed Axle (Front) - Remove".
b. Remove the oscillating axle. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Oscillating Axle (Rear) - Remove".
c. Remove the final drive and wheel. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Final Drive and Wheel - Remove".
- Install axle assembly on a suitable stand with parking brake housing (1) in a vertical position.
Note: Parking brake housing (1) used in the front fixed axle and in the rear oscillating axle are different. The procedure for the removal of the front and the rear parking brake housings are similar. The parking brake for the front axle is shown as an example.

- Remove 22 bolts (2) .
Note: Place location marks on the differential housing and the parking brake housing for installation purposes.
- Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to parking brake housing (1). The weight of the front parking brake housing is approximately 215 kg (474 lb). The weight of the rear parking brake housing is approximately 180 kg (397 lb).

- Evenly loosen four captive nuts (3) to release the parking brake spring pressure.
Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force. Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment. Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force. |
- Remove the parking brake housing (1) .
